Prof. Dr. Taina Pihlajaniemi

Prof. Dr. Taina Pihlajaniemi is the Vice Rector / Vice President (provost for science and research at the University of Oulu, Finland). Prof. Taina Pihlajaniemi is currently the Director of the Centre of Excellence for Cell-Extracellular Matrix Research for the period 2012-2017. Prof. Taina Pihlajaniemi has been a Professor of Medical Biochemistry at the University of Oulu, Finland since 1990. Prof. Taina Pihlajaniemi has also served in a number of positions including the Chair for the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (1991-2007), the Scientific Director for Biocenter Oulu (a bioinstitute with a personnel of 300) between 1996-2017 and a Post-doctoral fellow at Rutgers Medical School, Piscataway, NJ, USA (1982-1985). With over 180 scientific publications in biomedicine and several patents in her name, Prof. Taina is also a scientific co-founder of FibroGen Inc., San Francisco, CA, USA.

Dr. Peter-Michael Roettger

Dr. Peter-Michael Roettger is the founder-general manager of PMR Consult, Germany. Dr. Roettger is currently an executive board member of DDS – German Diabetes Foundation and has been involved in diabetes (diagnostics, therapy and prevention) for more than 15 years. Dr. Roettger is also a board member of several other organizations including Swiss Medical Solution, Zurich and an advisory board member of SterteCare Paterners, Brussels. Dr. Roettger was previously the managing director of Abbott- Medisense, GmbH and head of the pharmaceutical division of Alcon Pharma, GmbH.

Mr Anil Sharma

Anil has worked for 20+ years in leading Fortune 500 world-class companies in various capacities within sales, marketing and corporate management. Anil ventured into entrepreneurship at the turn of this century and is currently a Director & investor for several international companies with diverse business segments.

Starting with an idea & a concept generation of a business vision, over the last decade Anil established and developed a number of companies and subsequently invested into various British, Canadian, large PE funds or Pharmaceutical corporations. Finding a niche opportunity and turning it into a successful business has been, to a great extent, his business model. Building a successful organisation with strategic management, who possess a clear focus to think out-of-the-box is what Anil strives for most.

Prof. Dr. Heikki Ojamo

D.Sc. (Tech.) Heikki Ojamo is currently a Professor of Bioprocess Engineering at Aalto University, Helsinki, in Finland. Dr. Heikki Ojamo has over 33 years of experience in biotechnology R&D and teaching (Technical Research Centre of Finland, Espoo-Vantaa University of Applied Sciences and the University of Oulu). Prof. Ojamo main expertise is in the fermentation and downstream processing techniques focusing on bioreactors, microbial physiology and metabolic engineering, as well as the production and purification of proteins. Prof. Ojamo is the author and co-author for 50 peer-reviewed publications including 15 patents and patent families.
